The New Yorker's A to Z of NY Food: F is for Frankfurter

Next up in my A to Z of New York Food: F IS FOR FRANKFURTER! AKA the hot dog. New York is known for its dogs. I’ve eaten my fair share of NY street cart hot dogs (I prefer the spicier hot sausage) but my favorite is the one and only Nathan’s Famous of Coney Island. Nathan’s started in 1916 as a small cart and has grown to be a publicly traded, franchised company with stores around the world. Summer doesn’t feel complete without a subway ride to the home of Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and a stroll on the Coney Island Boardwalk. Tag your food alphabet F photo with #TNYeats so everyone can see. #hotdog #coneyisland #food newyork. Photo: @jamespomerantz WARNING: The seagulls almost ate me. Do not try to share a hot dog with them. Also, don’t try to break Joey Chestnut’s 2013 world record of eating 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
