The New Yorker's A to Z of NY Food: K is for Koreatown

K IS FOR KOREATOWN! Sometimes all you really want to do at 2am is belt out some 80s rock ballads and cook with fire. Thankfully you can do both in Koreatown. Centered around 32nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, Koreatown is home to numerous noraebang joints and DIY grilling restaurants open all night every night. What’s noraebang? It’s karaoke in your own private room that limits the risk of videos of your award-winning performance of Every Rose Has Its Thorns winding up on Youtube. As for eating, few things are better than 4am chunks of grilled beef with a slew of side dishes among friends in a restaurant with a waterfall and giant white piano.
