The New Yorker's A to Z of NY Food: V is for Vegetarian

V IS FOR VEGETARIAN! Confession: I love seafood and meat. I’m trying to be better about eating meat in moderation and since starting a family I’m much more aware of what I buy and how it was raised. I was vegetarian for a year when I was about twelve when I wanted to be a zoologist but I caved one Sunday morning when I woke to the smell of bacon filling the house. As hard as it is to imagine living the rest of my life without seafood or meat, there are those in this city cooking vegetarian food good enough to occasionally make me entertain the possibility. @pickleshacknyc is one such place. A vegetarian bahn mi with smoked tofu that made me forget it was meatless. The veggie burger was one of the best I’ve ever had and the fried @brooklynbrine pickles didn’t hurt either. #vegetarian #newyork #food Share your V Food/Drink photo with #TNYeats so your ex can find it and see what he/she’s missing.
